I finally finished these throw pillows for our couch yesterday!
I've always imagined our place being all black and white, modern, clean and simple...
and then before I know it, I am taping up paintings,
nailing over-sized paper flowers to the wall and
then everything is covered from ceiling to floor.
So as much as I try to be sophisticated with what I think I want,
my artsy self always finds a way to make it in and with these pillows... it was the zippers!!
I went into the store planning on getting yellow (my fav. color) and then saw orange (my second fav color) and after the rainbow before my eyes I could decide and just got one of each.  It definitely wasn't planned but turned out to be my favorite thing about these pillows.

>>> A little money saving tip is to buy sheets/duvet covers that you like and use that as fabric for your pillows/quilts!  I searched online everywhere for a graphic, playful black and white fabric and all of the ones I fell in love with were designer... of course... meaning they were $15+ a yard and out of my price range for pillow covers.  I found this fabric at IKEA, you probably recognize it as one of their new duvet covers. I spent $20 for it and have plenty of fabric left to cover a lamp shade, make padding for a bench we have, make a headscarf, decorate my plain white shirts with and pretty much anything else you could come up with.  I saved at least $25 and had a lot of leftover fabric to be creative with!

Fabrics from Purl Soho

I've been on a sewing kick lately... and I've been eyeing these cute summery prints!!  If only I had a baby girl she would have the cutest strawberry dress and floral baby doll. So someone please go buy these fabrics and make something cute for your baby girl for me?!

Hiking, sweating, climbing rocks, making fires and getting burnt.
We went to Joshua Tree again this weekend with some friends and had a great time like always.
We stayed at Jumbo Rocks Campground which allowed us to spend most of our time climbing. Landon is like a little monkey jumping from rock to rock over 10 ft.+ high with nothing stopping him, and I'm always trailing behind him on all fours balancing my camera in the front and bag in the back, occasionally yelling for help or frozen from fear.  I'm sure I look so ridiculous, but I'm trying :)

Unfortunately I didn't get any food photos. Our friends brought the most gourmet food and we've really never camped so luxury as we did.
Gourmet cheeseburgers, guacamole, Kombucha, brie & smoked gouda with Martinellis, tin foil dinners, s'mores, apple pie, watermelon, baked beans, eggs with fresh avocado, bacon and orange juice... the list never ends and we've never eaten this well while camping. Thanks guys for treated us so well!

But I have to say my favorite part of our trip was enjoying chocolately smores underneath a full moon.  Thankfully we never take photos when it's dark or else I'd have blackmail photos of a face covered in sticky marshmallows and chocolate smeared fingers. Every time.

This is a stop motion video I put together for my sister to announce her new exciting pregnancy!  Stop motion means it's TONS of pictures put together to make it look/feel like a video.  My sister had a few ideas she wanted to include in the video and as she was dying/cutting my hair... we decided to try something out, and here it is! It was super fun and is so special to me because these are my cutie niece and nephew, my "babies" until I have my own.  Congrats again Katie!!

Our big road trip is nigh and it will be here sooner than we know it!! Since my husband is from Canada we will be making our way up to BC for the first half of our summer break.  These pictures are from our trip up the west coast 2 years ago.  I have every hour pretty much planned out since we will be rushed on time.  We are making stops in:

San Francisco,
Redlands National Park,
Portland,
Seattle,
& Vancouver, BC.

If you have any foodie suggestions in these cities please send me over an email or comment!  We, especially me, are foodies and am always looking for the best local spots to hit up. And don't worry about suggesting the clam chowder in San Fran... it's probably one of my fav things on this planet.

Listening to Brandi Carlile's album.
Feeling extremely hot & sweaty from this blazing 100ยบ+ California heat.
Starting a new painting... of my husband... I'm intimidated.
Eating grapefruits with every meal, my grandma gave me a million pounds and we can't stop eating them!
Wanting to clean out my closet and solely buy maxi skirts, but seriously they feel like pajamas they're so comfy.
And always loving black and white photographs.
